INJECTION THERAPY FOR JOINTS

Plasma is the liquid component of blood that suspends our red and white blood cells as they travel throughout our blood vessels. Plasma contains proteins, nutrients, glucose, antibodies, and other components. Injection therapy has been enriched with high concentration of bodies that contain growth factors and other proteins that stimulate tissue regeneration and promote healing of soft tissue and bones. When injected into the joint, injection therapy has the ability to reduce inflammation, slow the progression of conditions such as arthritis, and stimulate formation of new cartilage. It can also increase the natural lubrication in the joint.

HOW IT WORKS?

Injection therapy takes advantage of the blood’s natural healing properties. It is done in the office and takes about 30 minutes using a specially designed kit and centrifuge machine. A sample of the patients own blood is prepared to isolate the platelets and plasma. The injection therapy is then injected directly into an affected joint to reduce pain, improve joint function, possibly slow, halt or repair damage in the area. Sometimes, more than one treatment of injection therapy may be needed.

Results

After treatment patients may experience an increase in discomfort for the first week. On a microvascular level, the healing process begins almost immediately. In about 2-6 weeks patients will notice a reduction in pain with further improvements for 6- 9 months. The injection supports the body’s natural healing process. Patients feel more comfort and experience more function as a result of treatment.
