Cost is one of the most common questions patients ask early in their research. At CLLC, we work hard to keep costs as reasonable as possible, while being fully aware that this is an extremely expensive surgery.

The single biggest cost driver is usually the surgical device itself — internal lengthening nails are precision-engineered implants, and their cost is a substantial part of the overall surgical fee. Whether one bone or two bones are lengthened (and whether both legs are treated) also significantly affects total cost, since each additional segment means an additional device, additional surgical time, and additional imaging and monitoring throughout treatment.

Beyond the device and surgical fee, the total cost of care includes pre-operative workup (consultations, and any medical clearance needed), the hospital or surgical facility fee, anesthesia, and post-operative care during both the lengthening and consolidation phases — which often involves regular follow-up visits and X-rays to track healing progress. Physiotherapy is another significant, ongoing cost, since a structured rehabilitation program spanning at least 3 months (for cosmetic patients) is a core part of a successful outcome, not an optional add-on.

Patients researching options should be cautious of quotes that only cover the surgery itself without including mandatory physiotherapy and all follow-up visits. At CLLC, our prices are listed on our website, and for cosmetic cases they include the surgery, three months of physiotherapy five days a week, and all follow-up visits for the first year.

There’s also an additional cost to remove the nails once the bone has healed. We generally advise patients to keep a \$20,000 reserve in case a complication requires a re-operation (for example, nail bending or crown breakage — a small risk, but worth planning for).
